9-11-01 Special Tonight

Everyone should stay home tonight and watch Fox News Channel at 10:00ET for a special on 9-11-01. I am not going to make this a political post, but you should know that as an American, this does involve you personally. The program is to run almost 2 hours, and it is nothing but personal footage from people on the ground during the attack on the WTC. This will give us all a renewed outlook on what's up in case we have forgotten, or belittled what occured that day. I see many people all the time that seem to have forgotten exactly what went down and what it did to people.

Innocent Americans were slaugthered. It could have just as easily been you, your wife, your son, your daughter, your mother, or any combination of the bunch. Just remember that as you watch.

Thanks.

Selling A Car Out Of State?

Do the plates stay on the car?

I tried calling my Aunt that works in the courthouse and she didn't answer. Need an answer fairly quickly. This guy is wanting my car and the car will be driving the 5.5hr trip to Pittsburgh, PA if he calls me back and tells me yes or no. We've settled on price and everything and he has narrowed it down to 3 cars and is going to let me know something today for sure. I've never sold a car out of state before, and would like to have some advice on what exactly I need to do.

Thanks

How To Start A Fight...

One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift...
The next year, I didn't buy her a gift.
When she asked me why, I replied,
"Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"
And that's how the fight started.....
________________________________
My wife and I were watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed.
I turned to her and said, 'Do you want to have Sex?'
'No,' she answered. I then said,
'Is that your final answer?'
She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying, 'Yes..'
So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend."
And that's when the fight started...
________________________________
I took my wife to a restaurant.
The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.
"I'll have the rump steak, rare, please."
He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?"
"Nah, she can order for herself."
And that's when the fight started.....
________________________________
My wife and I were sitting at a table at her high school reunion, and she kept staring at a drunken man swigging his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table.
I asked her, "Do you know him?"
"Yes", she sighed,
"He's my old boyfriend.... I understand he took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear he hasn't been sober since."
"My God!" I said, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"
And then the fight started...
________________________________
When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat, making beer.. Always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point.
When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house.. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway."
The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.
________________________________
My wife sat down next to me as I was flipping channels.
She asked, "What's on TV?"
I said, "Dust."
And then the fight started...
________________________________
Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the boat up to the van, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day. I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed.. I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."
My loving wife of 5 years replied, "And, can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?"
And that's how the fight started...
________________________________
My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary.
She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds."
I bought her a bathroom scale.
And then the fight started......
________________________________
After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security.
The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's License to verify my age.
I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home.
I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.
The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'.
So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair.
She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application..
When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office...
She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too.'
And then the fight started...
________________________________
My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.
She was not happy with what she saw and said to me, "I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly.
I really need you to pay me a compliment.'
I replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect."
And then the fight started........

I really have no clue about these trucks. I mean NO CLUE. It's so bad I don't even know if I want a ford or a chevy, but I do know that I'm going to end up buying one.

What I'm seeing is that I'm attracted to the late 40's early 50's trucks. Ideally, I'd like to do a modern drive train, but I'd be getting the cart ahead of the horse here. Does anyone know any good sites to do some research? Anyone have experience with these trucks that might be able to point me in the right direction or offer any insight on where I should start, what I should look for, etc.

I saw this one located in Ashland, what do you guys think? So i wanted to thanks them guys for the help and not letting me quit on the car, now with some luck this thing will be up and running again soon!
I also got the motor ready to go to Roberts as soon as i give him a call and he gives me the go ahead, number 6 was the problem spun a rod bearing. The crank and rod cap dont look to bad to me, but in all honesty im not sure what would be real bad looking. I did take my finger nail and run it over the rod cap and could not feel any groves but there is discoloration on the cap. On the crank doing the same thing i can feel a few groves but nothing that i hope cant be turned. Well wish me luck and maybe ill get to drive it some this time!.

I bought 99% of the $14,000+ worth of mods through him. Conservative 8 lbs of boost 465RWHP 445TQ. Since then I have added a Intercooler and meth injection for added protection againt heat. Also installed a 10-12lb pullie for more boost. No its has not been dynoed since. Thus... needs one more to dial it back in for AT's, FP and timing. However...I wont allow more then 500 510 at the rear wheels with the current pistons and rods. When we we tuning it we had to pull alot out because it was making way to much power and kept on pulling past 7200 without any sign of dropping. Its a very healthy engine SVT gave me. Some are good some are better! Mine kicks ass! When I just put a programer on it and a CAI and exhaust we picked up 65. Tells you too things... Engine responds well and the tuner knows his shit!

The car has never seen the track but with this setup and good sticky tires and the 8.8 in now vs the IRS crap it should be Mid to low 10's all day. 9's if you want to add better pistons, rods and bolts and up the boost w/ a more aggresive tune. It has the mods that will produce over 650 but the pistons and rods wont handle that type of power. The cobra Crank will but in 99 01 the rods and pistons are the weak link / factor. 03-04 cobras have much better pistons and rods. 98-99 has the best block though. Teksid! I have seen a few supercharged guys (99-01) running around with half the mods as me running 550 RWHP and not even a intercooler. Stupid if you ask me but some people dont care how long their car lasts. I built this to last and it has plenty of power for both the street and track.

Anybody Know A Fair Body Shop In Louisville?

I just moved to Louisville and I don't have internet at home yet, so here's the short version....

'87 toyota 2wd LWB, not a looker by any means, but I got it to build a minitruck out of...it WAS a decent platform.

I got hit in the rear by some dude this past saturday, folded the bumper up underneath the truck and destroyed the driver's side lower bed side. If it wasn't a little rusty, it'd have been the whole bed side. The impact also destroyed the factory "roll pan" that older toyotas were blessed with, and tweaked the last 10" or so of the driver's side frame rail (behind the shackle mount).

Looking for someplaces in town to give me estimates, mainly because that guy's insurance is going to cover it.

I'm not looking to take it back stock, it'd be cheaper for everybody if I just had that corner replaced and a roll pan welded in. I've already sourced parts. Replacement lower rear corners are $60, and a roll pan is around $100. I'd like to have someone look it over. Like I said, I don't have internet yet, so it'd be easier to call me (six OH! six) five four seven thirteen fifty five. My name's Chris. Thanks !

Well. . . Goddamn motherfucker

I had an issue awhile back with my valve seals, being chewed up, and in my oil. Well, it's came back within 3k miles. . . the valve seals are being pushed up the guides and getting damaged(found the valve seal spring in my oil during a change again). This is the second time with this valve seal issue, and two different sets of Valvesprings.

I have a "stalker" cam from Ragin(One of the original ones i believe). The original issue was on the original Ragin Stalker package valvespring kit, AFR 8019's i think. So i switched to a fresh Patriot Extreme kit. . . and the issue has came back. I called and talked to someone at Ragin today about the issue, and they recommend their new springs. I've already been through two different sets of valvesprings, something isn't adding up. Could the cam have too aggressive lobe separation? the car doesn't see above 7k rpms.

the only original piece of this cam swap is the cam itself, and the issue is still there. . .

should I look at changing the cam, or should I consider a different Valvespring again. . . the Patriot Extremes should be more than enough for the specs of this cam, and Patriot says the springs should be just fine for the application.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Okay, I called and got an APPOINTMENT to drop my truck off at 8:00am on Thursday, August 26th for a what should be relatively straightforward test and determination. I had to wait a week to get that appointment but hey, I'm fine with that not a big deal at all. I dropped my truck off at 8:00am sharp on Thursday and they said they would call me and let me know as soon as they find out something. Honestly, I was expecting to hear something that evening, but I waited around till Friday evening to call and see what's up. They said that they haven't had a chance to look at it yet but would get to it first thing on Monday. Well, umm.... okay, that's cool. Shit happens.....
I wait around till Monday and call that evening and again, same thing. Haven't had a chance to look at it. I just said heck with it, I'll give them a chance to fix it. I wait till Wednesday evening, give them a call. Now, I get an explanation of why they still haven't looked at my truck. Supposedly a truck took much longer than expected on the lift and backed everything up. They have it out of the shop and they pulled the next one in and I'm the one after that. He said we should get to tomorrow (Thursday). Okay, that sucks, but whatever, I understand stuff comes up. I just now called and THEY STILL HAVEN'T LOOKED AT MY TRUCK!!! WTF!??

Okay, for some reason, it just really got to me, he gave me the same thing the past two times I talked to him. I mean, if they knew they couldn't get to it for a few days, why didn't they just say hey, come get your truck and bring it in when we have a spot open because it's not like my truck is not drivable. I got a little firm, but was nice about it and just simply stated that I hated to keep calling about it, but I'm actually borrowing someones truck to get back and forth to work and they are needing their truck back. He said I understand, you are at the top of the list, and we will get you in the shop before the day is over and check out. I'm calling BS on that, and the more I think about it, the more I'm wanting to call back and tell them i'm coming to get my truck or they need to give me a damn loaner vehicle. This is getting crazy. My truck has been sitting down there for OVER A WEEK and no one as even went as far as to open up the damn hood and just LOOK at it. GAHHH!!!! I'm usually a really cool headed guy about this kind of stuff but this is starting to get on my nerves!
I know a few people here work at dealerships, and I hate to be an asshole, but what do you all think? Is that bullshit or does stuff like this happen all the time??

Racing At Bristol On The Way To The Rod Runs?

Fri the 17th Bristol is having a Va Laser race, last one had 400 cars and 4k+ people. This one is one a fri which is new but it's for the DER prep cuz the hitters are coming outta the hills to take out Kinzer.. If you've wondered about Thunder Valley, this is the night to come watch or race..it's also an open Tnt. But it's going to be off the hook with horsepower.. Darren Burnetts 7 sec busa will be in the house along with the rest of the 2 wheeled crew. This will be the best racing this year at Bristol as the season shuts down in 4 weeks for them.

[img]The rod runs are coming up and anyone headed east this way, it's not much farther up the road on 81 to Bristol and that Friday it time to shit or get off the pot for the Empires Outlaws. Will either of the fastest 82 yr old on the planets corvettes out pace his 7 second Slowbalt of doom and will he break 200mph? Sam Brickey's Blacout Foxbody just laid down an 8.15 pass on no prep, will he take out Kinzer? Is John Phillips going let them have it or will he bring out the 7.9x capable Z? The Rematch of the year with 600ci with enough nitrous to blow up a small town Wreckless against the Frankenstein freight train Qtrpndr. Onfires 8 sec full interior a/c power windowed firehawk beast...too many to list...This is gonna be an awesome night to watch some good ole fashioned heads up racing. Darren Burrnett's looking for 200mph on his busa deep into the sevens. I said I would tell you guys when the trip would be worth it, this is an open tnt night so anyone can run, watch, hang, but only a few will qualify for quick 8.
Then Sat in Gatlinburg to see all the cool hard parked cars.

New Na V8 Dyno Record

Well we spent most of the day today working on Brian Tooley's C5 and ended the day with a new personal high for me tuning on a NA V8 setup. We had issues with fuel pressure that we believe to be a weak racetronics pump along with a fuel filter. So our run's were cut short due to fuel starvation. I really hated to even run it on out at the lean afr mixture it was at but to mine and his amazement the knock sensors never picked up the least bit of knock. The car has plenty more power left in it with some fuel added in but on the lean mixture still amazed me!

589rwhp/513rwtq through a 4000 stall and a 4L65E

VS RPM

VS Speed

Supercharger Service

Does anyone local (Lex, Ville, Cincy, Nashville, Indy) do service on a Maggie or am I resigned to shipping it back to Cali? I have had a bearing failure in the rear, hope it is just the jack bearing since it seems to be the cheapest. the Magnuson tech listened over the phone and said it could be anywhere fom $305 (jack bearing) to $1000 (multiple failures).

Two Ladies Talking in Hell

1st woman: Hi! Wanda.

2nd woman: Hi! Sylvia. How'd you die?

1st woman: I froze to death.

2nd woman: How horrible!

1st woman: It wasn't so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm & sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death. What about you?

2nd woman: I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV.

1st woman: So, what happened?

2nd woman: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died.

1st woman: Too bad you didn't look in the freezer ---we'd both still be alive

Where is the nearest dyno to Maysville? Chassis dyno not engine. I would like to run my S10 once I get the new engine built but before I run it at the truck. I was thinking just take it to phils and maybe get him to tune it a bit while there. But does he tune carb engines. Engine will be a 350, .060 over 12.5:1 pistons, 461 camel humps 2.02/1.60 valves, roller rockers, .504 Doug Herbert solid cam , eagle rods, stock crank. Shooting for mid to low 12's, not sure on HP.

Dropped The C6 Off At Ky Speed

I dropped my vette off at ky speed saturday for a textralia 0z 700 clutch install, and dyno. The car had been slipping on the top end some, and it wouldnt hold a second gear burnout. I am very happy with the stock clutch however, because i ran it for 5 years, and the last two with a procharger. I am very excited about the textralia clutch, and i cant wait to try it out. The car should make close to 600 rwhp on 10 psi and meth, i guess we will just have to wait and see.
